Cathcart & District Housing Association offers a Welfare Rights, Money Advice and Energy Advice Service to our tenants, in partnership with Southside Housing Association.
Welfare rights
Our Welfare Rights Team provides confidential, free and impartial advice on:
- Benefit Checks/Income Maximisation
- Sanctions
- Appeals and Representation
- Welfare Reform
They provide advice for all benefits including:
- Universal Credit (UC)
- Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)
- Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
- Income Support
- Discretionary Housing Payment & Bedroom Tax
- Disability Living Allowance & Attendance Allowance
- Personal Independence Payments
- Carer’s Allowance
- Scottish Welfare Fund
- Pension Credit
- Food bank vouchers
Money & debt advice
Our Money Advice Service offers free, confidential, impartial and independent debt advice.
We can:
- Review your finances
- Prioritise your debts
- Complete a financial statement (including details of your income & expenditure)
- Provide advice on suitable options and provide you with the necessary information to help you make an informed decision.
- Contact your creditors and negotiate with them on your behalf, supporting you every step of the way.
Energy advice
Funding from the Social Housing Fuel support fund has allowed us exclusive access to an adviser from Glasgow’s Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT).
They can provide advice on energy saving measures, assist with any issues with the operation of your heating system, or disputes with your Energy supplier.

- Provide your name, address, phone number, and reason for your appointment.
- Our staff will forward your details to the Welfare Rights Officers, who will arrange an appointment directly with you.
